Transitioning your Home for the Holiday Season

Some of My Favorite Tips

1. Paint Color

Have you been putting off painting a room that is outdated and needs a quick facelift? Color changes the complete look of a room. If you are into trends, according to Benjamin Moore 2018 color of the year is Caliente-AF290. For more color inspiration here is a link to their page:

2. Soft or Hard Focus with Textile and Furniture

Fabrics and textile can bring in boldness and texture to transform a space in minutes. Pillows with prints can express your style and mood. Drapery can inspire room design without having to change the furniture. However, if you want a quick transformation to your dining room ,why not select a new fabric for your chairs why not select a fabric. Mix and match a traditional chair with a contemporary fabric and now you have just created your own eclectic style. One last suggestion: area rugs are what I call a great anchor to any room design. It creates such a detail focal point centering your design and making it complete.

3. Accessories

One of my favorite ways to transition a dining room for the holidays are tablescapes, because they are simple but stunning ways to add a little something special to any bare space. You can select a collection or an assortment of things special to you. Tablescapes create artwork to a room whether it is your dining table, coffee table, nightstand or a bare corner in a room. My favorite accessories to any room are fresh flowers and candles.

4. Lights

When it comes to details we often overlook lighting which is key to any design. Incorporate some new lamps or change out those lampshades. A quick tip to transforming your existing lamps into a new look creating a different style by painting the base with a metallic texture . Changing the shades by selecting a wallpaper or fabric can create a dramatic yet gorgeous look.

5. Wall Art

Finally: wall art. Wall art speaks volume into a room telling a story about you in so many ways. When designing on a budget take your favorite quotes and print it out and place it in a black frame. The words create energy and the black frame is your eyeliner to a complete makeover. If your budget allows shop Home Goods for some great holiday finds. http://www.homegoods.com/home-accents/
