A JOURNAL OF CAPTURING MESMERIZING & THOUGHTFUL BEAUTY IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER

The Art of Nesting: How Cleaning Sparks My Creativity

Writer: Wandra CainWandra Cain

I spent the last few hours cleaning and organizing my kind of therapy. There’s something about resetting my home that resets my mind, too. It’s like reflecting and clearing the clutter to make room for fresh ideas.

My husband walked in, eyes scanning the perfectly arranged countertops, polished floors, and furniture. “ What’s going on? Why are you nesting?” he asked, half joking. Then he paused, looking at me curiously. “ Is something about to happen to you?”

I laughed because, in a way, yes, something is always happening in my creative world. What he doesn't realize is that I do this almost every week. He’s usually away for work, so he never sees my little ritual - the moment when inspiration strikes and i get lost in a vision. He walks and sees the after-in when everything looks like he just entered a nicely designed home.

As an interior designer, my mind constantly generates ideas, concepts, and possibilities for transforming and improving something.

I dream of putting them all into a book one day—pages filled with thoughts, experiences, and the beauty I see through my eyes. I have also been blessed to design and decorate some fantastic homes. But for now, they live in the thousands of photos and notes on my iPhone, many of which never make it to social media.

That is why i have decided to start inside my own home, sharing behind-the-scenes of our curated designs of joy and blessing life as an interior designer and decorator. Sometimes, creativity needs a little nudge, structure, and push to help someone transform their home into their unique space.

“ Then the Lord replied: “ Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets that a herald may run with it. “

Your home should reflect who you are. So, with that in mind, here is a sneak peek inside my curate home. I love plants and natural light.

One key benefit of plants and natural light is that they reduce stress and boost mood. Studies show that exposure to greenery and sunlight increases serotonin levels, helping to create a more calming and uplifting environment. This can improve overall well-being, productivity, and mental clarity.
